Switching between rocking chairs and a full turn
For beginners, those with balance issues, and those on a rocking cruise ship, you might want to replace a full turn with a rocking chair (forward recover and back recover). See note at the end of this list.

For beginners, those with balance issues, and those on a rocking cruise ship, you might want to replace a full turn (made up of two half turn pivots) with a rocking chair. See for example "Back on Texas Time" step sheet. The second group of 8 counts ends with 2 half turn pivots. You can replace these with rocking chair (forward and back). Steps 5,6 become step left forward, recover right. Steps 7,8 become step left back, recover right. Conversely, you can jazz up a simplier dance by replacing a rocking chair with two half pivot turns. See "Country as Can Be" step sheet. In the second group of 8 counts, rather than repeat the rocking chair for counts 5-8, use two half turn pivots.
