Modern, strategy / resource management games are often called Euro games.
These games are often 90-120+ minutes, dpending on the number of players.
Several aspects of these modern games set them apart from "Monopoly".
First, while there is some degree of chaos (randomness) in the games, winning requires planning.
Second, there are generally multiple paths to the victory conditions.
Third, there is some mechanism in the game to force it to end, resulting in games that don't last forever.
Board Games
Party games are games that play well (in our opinion) with a group of people
They require less planning than Euro games.
Some are even improved with the consumption of moderate amounts of adult beverages.
Party games
Card games for non-serious players.
Not going to discuss bridge and similar games. These are for casual players.
